Free Prescription Drugs

How do I get free prescription drugs? How do I get Free Prescriptions? Where can I get or find Free Prescriptions?

If people do not qualify for free medications or free prescriptions through Medicaid, Medicare or another qualifying state or federal program, there is another way to receive free medications and free prescriptions through what is referred to as a Patient Assistance Program (PAP).

Patient assistance programs are programs that are administered by pharmaceutical companies that will provide free prescriptions and free medications to those people who cannot afford to buy their own medication or prescriptions. Patient assistance programs can apply when you have no insurance, have a gap in your public or private insurance coverage, or you don’t have the income or the money to pay for you prescription drugs.

Most people do not know that they may qualify for free prescription drug assistance but simply do not know how to access these free medications and drugs. You may even qualify if you have insurance but your insurance does not cover your specific prescription.

Qualifying for a Prescription Drug Assistance program typically is determined by the persons income. It is important to understand that the person’s “income” is determined by all sources. Other factors in whether you qualify and the level of assistance you qualify for is the number of dependents you have, whether you are married or not, and total household income of both spouses if married. If you qualify for Medicaid or Medicare, typically you will not be eligible for Prescription Drug Assistance program. Below is an example level of income levels and numbers of dependents to qualify for most prescription drug assistance programs. Typically a person qualifying for coverage under a prescription drug assistance program needs to be within 2 times the federal poverty line and have no current coverage for specified medications.
