Personal Health Insurance

Golden Rule offers individuals and families a variety of coverage at affordable prices in many states.

Health Savings Account (HSA) Plans combine lower-cost, high-deductible health insurance with a tax-advantage health savings account.  Do you want more control over how your health care dollars are spent?  Health Savings Account (HSAs) plans can help you take control of your health, your medical decisions, and your medical spending. An HSA, also known as a health savings account, can increase your health insurance buying power by:

  • Typically lowering your health insurance premium, but still providing quality coverage.
  • Regaining more control of your health care dollars.
  • Paying your out-of-pocket health care expenses with tax-advantaged savings.
  • Spending your HSA savings tax free to help pay your health insurance deductible or for qualified medical expenses including prescriptions, vision, or dental care.
  • Providing one simple, calendar-year deductible per family.

High Deductible Health Insurance Plans offer the lowest premiums of all plans.  High deductible health insurance allows you to save money on your premiums while taking the responsibility of covering minor or routine out of pocket medical expenses if they come up. You will also benefit from UnitedHealthcare's wide-reaching network, which is available in most areas.

Plan 100®

  • A top-selling high deductible health plan, Plan 100, pays 100% of covered expenses, once you meet your calendar-year medical insurance deductible.

Plan 80®

  • Plan 80 is a low premium high deductible health insurance plan. This plan provides coverage for hospital confinements, surgical procedures in or out of the hospital, and the more costly outpatient expenses.

Copay Plans provide traditional insurance benefits for people who need routine health care.  Copay plans are similar to traditional coinsurance offered by employer plans that include a copayment for out-of-pocket medical expenses. If you are looking for a plan that offers copay benefits, preventive care, and prescription drugs, we have two plans for you to choose from.

Copay SelectSM

  • When you use a preferred network doctor for an office visit, we pay 100% for history and exam fees after a $35 with Copay SelectSM. Office expenses outside your network are not eligible for copay benefits.
  • Additional features include:
    • Prescription Drug Card Benefit (Copay Select only).
    • Comprehensive coverage for inpatient and outpatient medical expenses.

Copay SaverSM

  • The Copay Saver plan provides the convenience of copayments for doctor office visits (limited to 2 per person, per calendar year) for a lower monthly premium.

Short Term Medical Life can change quickly and you may need the protection of short term health insurance.  The Short Term medicalSM insurance product can be an alternative to COBRA health insurance and can provide temporary health insurance for individuals who may have:

  • Lost coverage through recent job or life changes
  • Recently graduated and are no longer covered by your parent's plan.
  • A job as a seasonal worker
  • Begun enjoying early retirement and are waiting for Medicare.
  • Recently completed COBRA insurance coverage.

This short term health plan offers easy-to-understand temporary medical insurance designed for individuals and families in times of transition and change.

Personal insurance is not the same as COBRA, so review your COBRA information carefully. Your time to elect COBRA is limited by law. Failure to elect will eliminate HIPAA eligibly.

Dental Insurance provides coverage from dental cleanings to root canals. Our dental insurance plans provide you with the coverage you need to promote good dental health.

Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans If you are turning 65, you may want to consider adding Medicare supplement insurance to your Medicare coverage.

You may find that several health care services aren’t covered in your Medicare A or B plans. Golden Rule Insurance Company offers Medicare supplement plans A, C, F and G to cover the additional benefits you may want. Our variety of Medicare supplemental insurance plans gives you the option to choose what’s right to fit your needs.

UnitedHealth ContinuitySM when combined with select Golden Rule Insurance Company health plans, can give you access to personal health insurance whenever you no longer have access to a group plan.*

If you have employer-sponsored medical coverage, you’ll likely continue to have access to health insurance, but…

  • If you decide to retire early and enjoy life …
  • If you opt to become your own boss through self employment …
  • If you lose your employer-sponsored medical coverage or your job …

You could be left with limited health insurance options.

With UnitedHealth Continuity and a Golden Rule health plan, you can have quality personal health insurance regardless of changes in your health or the health of your covered dependents. You’ll only need to pass underwriting once — when you apply for your personal plan.

How UnitedHealth Continuity can work for you.

If you need medical coverage now:

Start with your personal plan turned ON (active).
You’ll get the health insurance coverage you choose and pay a small premium for the UnitedHealth Continuity rider. Later, if you take a job with employer-sponsored medical coverage, you can turn your personal plan off and pay a small premium for the option to turn it back on when you need it again.

If you have employer-sponsored medical coverage now:

Start with your personal plan turned OFF (inactive).
With this option you’ll pay a small percentage of the personal plan premium for the option to turn that coverage on when you need it later. For example, if you leave your job because of early retirement or even a layoff, you can turn the personal plan on and maintain seamless coverage. Changes in your health or the health of a covered dependent won’t affect your health insurability.
